Eyelashes have the impressive ability to transform your face. Long, dark and voluminous eyelashes create the illusion of wide, gazing eyes that highly represents the feminine beauty. Lengthening your natural lashes and creating fullness is possible by applying eyelash extensions.
Eyelashes require a delicate touch. Every hair on our bodies including our eyelashes follow a natural growth cycle. We are born with a specific number of follicles, and that number remains the same as we age. It is important to take care of your lashes so that they remain lush and full throughout your life.
Eyelash extensions are a semi-permanent beauty treatment that enhances the natural beauty of your eyes. It requires a certified and professional lash artist to manually hand glue each individual extension strand onto your natural lashes.
There are various types of materials that lash extensions are made of and the final look that you would like to achieve is fully customizable and they typically last from 5 to 8 weeks until they naturally fall out along with your natural lashes. Among the types of lashes that we use are silk, faux mink, synthetic and mink.
Lash Extensions Types
Silk: These lashes are made from fibers called PBT and they usually have a glossy finish.
Faux Mink: These are the most commonly used lash extensions. They are synthetic lashes that resemble a real mink lash as they are light, soft and extremely natural looking. Faux mink lash extensions are 100% hypoallergenic and they never lose their curl.
Synthetic: These are made of acrylic and their texture is coarse. We recommend staying away from these as they are made out of plastic.
Mink: Real mink lashes come from the Mink’s tails and may cause allergic reactions. These lashes are ultra-soft and plush however sometimes the curl doesn’t hold up.
Nonetheless, rewarding the type of lashes that you decide to get, every extension is shaped like a single eyelash, and keep in mind they are available in a variety of widths, lengths, curls and colors.
Classic Lashes vs. Volume Lashes
Classic Lashes, covers up to 90% of the natural lashes and can only be as full as the amount of natural lashes you have. Each individual fiber is adhered to a single, natural lash using a hypoallergenic, medical-grade adhesive.
Volume Lashes, created a fluffy look with maximum fullness, using multiple lashes (2-6) that are adhered to a single natural lash; they are ideal for those with sparse lashes.
Hybrid Extensions is a combination of both Classic and Volume lashes. It adds the signature look of “fullness” with a classic definition, the perfect in-between
Both sets of eyelash extensions are soft and feel natural, our technique also allows each natural lash to grow on its own cycle without pain, pulling or pinching.
Thickness & Length
Thickness ranges from .03 (ultra-light) to .25 (very thick). For Classic Extension the most commonly used are .07 to .20 depending on the health and thickness of the natural lash. The thicker the natural lash, the thicker the extension can be.
Lengths range from 8mm-20mm however, at Arch Angels we do not recommend going beyond 16mm. The rule of thumb is to apply an extension that is approx. 2-3 mm longer than the natural lash to preserve the client’s natural lash and not cause any damage.
Lash Mapping is one of the most important steps of eyelash design, just as it is for Microblading and brow design, it helps us create the perfect eye shape for our clients. When talking to your Eyelash artist, it is very important that you listen well to her advice, you might like a certain look, but you need to take into consideration your natural brow arch in comparison to the iris of your eye, and the right technique allows to create a beautiful, natural, unified lash line.
Say Goodbye to Mascara!
Eyelash extensions are ideal for those seeking a bolder look. They also help create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. You can save during your beauty regimen and using mascara is no longer necessary.
