Skin can be very difficult to manage: oily, dry, or even what some people would consider normal.
However, if you’re interested in getting your brows Microbladed, don’t get discouraged by your skin! During your microblading consultation, the technician will more than likely be able to pinpoint the kind of skin you have, and in doing so, letting you know the game plan.
So, what’s the deal with oily skin?
Well, because of the oil on your skin, the hair-strokes tend to spread; picture an ink pen that bleeds the edges. Ultimately, the strokes may heal looking thicker and less defined. The constant production of oil will make the end result will look more powdered instead of a crisp hair stroke appearance.
Got it! Whats the alternative?
A. An experienced technician will simply not put as many strokes, or put them as closely together, throughout the brow. They’ll wait, see how it heals within the skin, and then during the touch-up, they’ll see if you had some spread of the strokes, and see how many strokes need to be filled in.
B. Find a technician that uses a glycerin-based pigment for their oily clients. Using a water-based pigment helps prevent that spreading in the skin! Using the water-based on everyone is not recommended, simply because it dries a lot faster, making it less easy to work with. This will work better on oily skin because the skin already has so much moisture!
C. Microshading/Powder Effect! A microshading technique is done using either an electric hand tool or a manual tool, which creates a soft, powdered effect that resembles eyebrow powder. Instead of the typical hair stroke that comes with microblading and microfeathering, microshading which employs more of a stippling method, microshading uses repetitive dots of pigment. It mimics the ‘effect’ you achieve when you use a brow powder or pencil. It offers a ‘blocked in’ appearance as the pigment is applied using a technique that covers the brow area from the inner brow through to the tail in one block color. It adds depth, definition, and results in a more ‘made up’ look. When healed, you will enjoy a permanent, defined but soft powdered look. Most of all, its perfect for clients with oily skin!
Don’t fret, if you have oily skin, microblading/shading can be for you!
