Scalp Micropigmentation is not as Scary as it Sounds!
It is all right if you are suffering from hair loss — did you know that alopecia or hair loss is more common than you think?
According to The American Hair Loss Association, women actually make up 40% of American hair loss sufferers and on men, diseases like Androgenetic alopecia or common male pattern baldness, accounts for more than 95%
We understand if you might feel worried or upset when you lose hair, but remember that you are not alone in this process and we are here to help! So, let us explain a little further how the procedure works and go over the most frequently asked questions according to all of our years of experience in the beauty industry.
Scalp Micropigmentation is actually a very effective, immediate, simple and affordable procedure for hair loss. It does sound intimidating as it’s a needle on your head, but Scalp Micropigmentation is not an invasive procedure, nor it goes deep into the skin. The technique is done with a very tiny needle called “micro needle” and with a special ink referred to as “pigment” used to replicate hair follicles throughout the bald spots or the entire scalp.
Imagine the technique as drawing thousands of little dots on your head with a thin Sharpie. The treatment is considered to be a cosmetic tattoo, actually very similar to regular permanent make up, such as Brow Microblading and Nano & Ombré; but the technique on the other hand, is more like pointillism to create a more natural look of fuller hair and a defined hairline.
The Micropigmentation technique that we use at Arch Angels NYC is done with a cutting-edge technology to ensure the best results available in the market, and the treatment is personalized and tailored specifically for your skin color and type. As for timing and number of sessions, it depends on you, but on average it takes up to 2-3 weeks to see the final results and takes up to 2-4 sessions. Keep in mind that these numbers depend on the severity of the disease or on how much hair you’ve lost!
Keep in mind that the treatment lasts up to 5-6 years, it is recommended to touch up after a couple of years just to bring back the pop of color, but it does tend to lighten up with time; again the fading degree is up to your skin type and sun exposure, after all it is a cosmetic tattoo.
Overall, it is a very safe procedure, the usual redness or itchiness is normal, just like a regular tattoo, but thankfully in our years of experience we haven’t had the opportunity to see any complications like allergies, rashes or excessive bleeding. Keep into consideration that this is due to our extremely careful sanitation process, use of top tier equipment like machines and ink and most importantly our highly trained and professional staff.
We know it is a lot of information to take in and that the procedure itself sounds a little scary, but we promise that is not as bad as it looks, besides we make sure to numb your head right!
There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of or scared about, Scalp Micropigmentation is a very normal procedure that can impact your quality of life to the maximum! Wherever you are, the most important thing is to find the right person to do it and the connection with the artist.
Please do your research, be open to pay a little extra if necessary, but make sure to select a professional artist. At the end of the day, it is more expensive to pay for a removal and a second round of micropigmentation, without even considering the effect on your self-esteem due to a poor job.
We hope this information was helpful and that now you are more aware of the procedure itself. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get back to us via direct message on Instagram at @ArchAngelsNYC or by email or phone!
We are here to help to make you look and feel your best, but remember that the change starts within.
